Orion connects international fans to Aussie motocross action
When motocross champion Dean Ferris next takes to the dirt track in regional Australia, fans from around the globe will be able to cheer on their hero thanks to Orion’s reliable and durable satellite service.
In partnership with Orion, event manager Kevin Williams always has enough bandwidth and technical support to make sure no one misses a race.
In the past, getting adequate internet access in regional locations was an impossible task.
“The MX Nationals are held across towns and cities all over Australia – including some pretty remote places,” says Kevin.
“We would test our equipment and it would work fine, but on race day a crowd would turn up and use up all the bandwidth.”
Where others put Kevin’s problem in the ‘too hard basket’, Orion worked with Kevin to come up with an innovative solution.
“For Orion, it wasn’t a case of if we could do it, it was how we could do it,” Kevin says.
“They helped us forge new ground.”
Kevin gives Orion’s commitment to service ”more than ten out of ten,” with technical staff always on hand to help out when problems arose.
Today, after two years streaming some 20 races with Orion, more than 400,000 people have viewed the MX Nationals across 138 countries, with another massive season planned for 2017.
