Who We Are

At Orion, we strive to be the best satellite provider in Australia & New Zealand. Orion is a division of IPA Group also known as IPSTAR Australia, specialising in satellite services and different types of satellite communication. We are one of only two infrastructure operators in Australia. This means we own our satellite. From start to finish, every project we work on is delivered by Orion staff and products, resulting in a quick and seamless process.

As part of the IPA Group, and through our global Thaicom network, we have over $3.5 billion dollars of assets in space, showing our commitment to being the foremost provider of satellite services in the Southern Hemisphere.

As well as our local experts, we have access to an extensive directory of satellite experts.

We focus on delivering connectivity via a local, personable and approachable team, backed by global infrastructure and innovation. Avoid frustrating call centres and talk directly with our friendly experts when you need to.

7000+ Connections

For nearly two decades, Orion have been providing connectivity without borders, geo-remote and critical connectivity to Australia & New Zealand based businesses. In this time we have secured and supplied more than 7,000 connections, regardless of location or existing infrastructure.

We experience a high amount of repeat business and customer referrals. This is testament to our ability to work collaboratively and efficiently with organisations across multiple industries.

A network footprint covering 14 countries

As part of the global Thaicom network, Orion’s satellite has a connectivity footprint spanning 14 countries. From West Africa to New Zealand, China to Australia and anywhere in between, we will connect you.

Beyond Orion’s own satellite footprint, we have access to Thaicom’s full catalogue of satellites if required. Our extensive footprint enables us to deliver connectivity without borders to our local customers and ensure the continuation of service needed by all of our customers.

40+ dedicated local specialists

At Orion, all of our staff live and breathe satellite communications. Our local experts are approachable and share a common goal of providing customers with the right solution for their needs, 24/7. Through our parent company, Thaicom, we have access to a further 600 specialists.

We understand the importance of quick and helpful assistance, as well as specialised, expert guidance, no matter your location.  That’s why we train local experts in remote areas and transport specialists to make sure location is no obstacle for our service.

This project wouldn’t have been possible without the ongoing support, collaboration and expertise from the teams at MarchNet and Orion. Wanting to future proof our vast and extremely remote network was always going to be a challenge, but with substantial planning and consultation, we were all able to work together to seamlessly deploy a solution that is orders of magnitude better than what we’ve ever had before- Aaron Wakelly, Head of Government and Media Relationships, AACo
Since that first project, I think we have spoken with Orion on an almost weekly basis. We joke about giving them key cards to the office because they are here so often. We have relied on the Orion team to deliver connectivity for our projects and in every case, they have been reliable and flexible.- Harry Plange, IT Manager, MACA
We really needed a stable and reliable link. Orion had already provided connection for five remote sites and as our MSP, had a very strong understanding of the API operational infrastructure. This led to them tailoring the high speed, high availability SD-WAN solution.- Ian Plant, ICT Coordinator, API Management
The fact that Orion are willing to be flexible when needed, meant they really took the time to understand our needs. Their staff are thorough and efficient, and the connectivity service is almost too good to be true.- Simon Pearce, CIO, Spirit of Tasmania
